I landed in Shanghai on Friday evening, stayed in the city for a night, and caught a train to Nanjing the next day. It was such an adventure! It looked dicey at points given that I have a loose grasp of directions and was carrying far too much luggage. Luckily, several incredibly kind strangers helped me along the way and I made it safely to Nanjing’s train station, where my fellow fellows awaited me.
Nanjing is lovely and green, with sycamore trees everywhere. I have been trying to use my Mandarin skills, but I am realizing that I have a very limited vocabulary and usually speak in fragments, instead of full sentences. On the bright side, I have lots of room for improvement! I am also hoping that once I get past the jetlag, my skills will improve, even marginally. Will keep you updated!
